It was a 1 hour hike up from the col des portes. Lucy chose not to bring her glider. Sore back. We saw 7 wings take off as we trudged up. Brise a friendly low airtime french pilot chose not to fly too. I took off and headed West along the ridge gaining to 2400 before turning North and following two white wings that had skyed out. Got low once and had a fiesty fight back up but otherwise the valley worked. One thermal gained me 1200m! And the thermals were just where I'd hoped they'd be. Base was around 3000… Amazed to fly over the antennas we'd been looking up at the night before from vielle Noyon I covered an extra 5km just to try and cover max distance and landed out 1.5km short of Laragne. Good news. The hat I'd left in the terasse restaurant was right where I'd left it. Now for the 7.30 train back to Aix. Arrives 9.30!
