Notes

Climb and Speed averaged over 4 second intervals.

These values may be lower than those shown by a flight instrument, which has access to continuous raw data.

Average Speed around course is measured from Start to Finish points.

Track Length is the cumulative distance between track points from Takeoff to Landing.

You can change the default units displayed - see the Options page.

There wasn't much chat on telegram and it wasn't a mega day forecast but there were still quite a few pilots out. Most seemed to be on Worcester Beacon and climbed out before us but we still had a good few on Kettle Sings.

The day was forecast to have quite a bit of high cloud downwind and it certainly turned out that way. Lovely blue skies and puffy clouds out in front with rather too much wind to head forwards and lots of high cloud and funny murky stuff over the back although it did work.

I was determined not to rush off and tried to concentrate on being patient and flying the sky in front of me, not being bothered about distance or direction, just watching the sky as it changed and trying to use the clouds as stepping stones.

Usually I am so busy trying to climb that I forget about looking around until I am too high and can't see ahead. Now I find I'm not climbing so efficiently, quite slowly in fact, but I am taking in the sky around me and how it is changing so my decisions about where to go next seem to be better. Maybe as I do more I might be able to multitask - at the moment I don't seem to have the bandwidth to do both!

Having a wing that glides more efficiently definitely does help although stepping up to a 2 line wing (albeit a C) does mean more workload when the conditions are a bit more demanding.

I managed 2 hours again before I ran out of energy, I do drink quite a lot in the air but hadn't eaten before I took off (mistake) and I have never managed to eat in the air.

The day definitely had more to give as I flew away from the last thermal and landed, in fact someone on a yellow Gin wing climbed out above me, but I was very pleased with my flight and landed safely in the most enormous field. I always land and then feel I should have done more but I don't think I ever want to land feeling I should have done less!
