Nice unexpected day out, having spent the prior week suffering from Covid, and having done very little flying and no thermalling since the end of Summer 22 it was time to make an effort to get to a hill.
Although Set a down wind task, I didn't fancy the retrieve hassle and not sure how I was going to feel, I hoped just to get a bit of air time.
Launching at the right time was the trick with no wind on the hill for most of the day. A Few gliders got up here and there, and then Finally a liittle waft of something seen a few of us launch, 4 to 5 gliders climbed with another few a few 100 feet above. Slowly made my Way up with very little drift, so Darren and myself just flew hoping from cloud to cloud. Out front, We were trying to make it to the M4 but after getting a climb up from relatively low down over Hungerford, the sky seem to be getting bluer and the clouds fewer and further apart. I turned tail and headed back for the hill. All in all nice little starter session for the season ahead.
