Very rough and quite strong conditions. It really looked difficult to get away as everything was broken early. Later, we were able to climb properly but the thermals still seemed difficult to centre in. As the day progressed lift got stronger and more organised. I nearly went down N of Cirencester and I was going backwards into wind. A mega thermal rocketed me up at 4/5m/sec and from then on it was easy. Concerned about the wind I tried to land at Evesham but lift was everywhere so took at and decided to do 100k a sod the risk! ( I thought the forecast had howling winds later but hadn't checked properly. ) as it was landing near Kidderminster was fine.
A hitch, followed by a couple of pints and a fat steak at a station pub rounded off a cracking day, that I had thought would be pants, cos of being blown out…
