Great flight with a plan for Villacastin or Segovia depending on the conditions. Forecast was for a light (ish) SW wind, and potential for a slightly weaker than normal wind at Avila. Mark (whose first flight in Piedrahita was yesterday) got quite low in the pass and had radioed that he was thinking he'd missed his chance. Luckily he stuck with it, and climbed out with a Martin Joyce in a +5m/s climb, to join me at the pass, and proceed through at about 2800m into the Avila Valley.
Straightforward flight down the valley, topping up towards Avila and pushing towards the North, but encountered a headwind (which wasn't forecast) so very sinky, & decided to land short of Avila and head for La Serrada (where there was a bar) and wait for retrieve…
