Great sky, but tricky.
An ESE forecast yet the early signs showed it to be more southerly. On take off Paul, Jim and I prepped with high expectations. The sky looked great, but once in the air good climbs were hard to find.
Eventually I managed to find a steady 2m climb and squeaked away heading out behind Tan Hill to clear the noon flypast. Once high things were very different, with 5 and 6m climbs under some ominous looking clouds, large patches of shadow, big gaps but also plenty of sailplanes.
Flying over my house in Gloucester was a thrill, but massively tempted to land for afternoon tea!
After that I never really got high again.
