'Blown out! ' was the forecast, but a few of us decided to take a look anyway.
As I arrived there was already someone airborne and several setting up. The winds were, well, light! The first cycle under a 7/8 cloudy sky saw pretty much everyone take off, jostling for top spot in the broken lift, but only one Zeno managed to stay up as the lift and wind strength decreased. We watched in near zero winds as this one guy milked the sky for every puff of lift he could find - one away!
We waited 10, maybe 15 mins before the sky cleared and an even bigger cycle passed through under what seemed to be an established cloud street. Again everyone was off. I missed out on the first gaggle but managed to get a good climb back at take-off that got me up under the grey stuff. A little more patience would have made all the difference today as base wasn't that high. A quick return to mother earth was hastened by my eagerness to push on - Oh well, a much better day than I'd expected plus two super lifts back to the hill - 'Thanks Monica, Paul! '
