The following changes were implemented for this season:
Witness flights are no longer allowed so a tracklog is required for all flight submissions. Although some flights are undertaken in areas where there is no risk of infringing airspace, it is useful to have a complete record of our activites, particularly when defending airspace grabs.
The minimum track recording interval has been reduced to 20 seconds. The previous 60-second interval was a hangover from the early days of GPS when instruments did not have much storage.
Breaks can occur in a tracklog due to instrument malfunction or the pilot changing the batteries. Rather than defining a maximum break time it is simpler to require that neither the continuity of the flight or airspace compliance has been compromised.
It has never been easy fitting a competition goal flight to an XC League declared flight, both from obtaining the correct task data and handling various sized multiple cylinders, so we have decided to drop this flight type. Instead, we will allow recognized British competitions to make a mass declaration if the task matches an XC League declared flight.
