Nice breeze blowing up the front of the hill. Great looking sky. Only thing missing was the lift!
Kirsty and Alex were pretty much rigged and ready to go by the time I arrived. Surprisingly few on take-off, maybe 6 of us to start with. Alex then Kirsty took off and Peggy, myself and a few others followed soon after.
What happened next was the shocker. We all spend the next 30 plus minutes chasing broken lift and getting nowhere fast. It was, well, strange. Eventually Alex and Kirsty dribbled away in a weak, but consistent climb. This left the rest of us to enjoy 90 minutes of scratching, mixed with an increasing desire to land and be done with it.
The hanging about cursing and moaning finally paid off and I managed to climb to base in a 1.5 to 2 up. From here an undisturbed glide saw me on the ground with hardly a chirp from the vario.
Still, always nice to get away.
