Classic Rutland day - light wind so ideal for local flying from the winch. First couple of launches couldn't really connect with anything meaningful. Third time lucky and Mick Roche was already climbing well, with Joseph Durant marking a nice thermal - so released and joined him then climbed to base and joined Mick - two red Sigma 10s then set off round Rutland Water. Lots of cloud but still enough sun to trigger good thermals and picked up the second thermal near Oakham - about 1km apart, which came together and then hoofed back to base at 4.5ms-1. Then off along the north shore where Mick found a climb but I couldn't quite connect - he sky-ed out and blasted off while I went back for a weaker thermal. Mick took a new fast time for the 'Tour du Lac' at approx 1hr30 and landed to carry on with training. I boated on and continued the loop to land at a friend's house for another half circuit. Perfect Rutland flying.
