5 star day, and I'd been meaning to try Edenfield for a while. Unfortunately, Simon Baillie, Phill Colbert and I couldn't get away early due to minimal wind and no really decent thermals to get away with. I bombed out over optimistically going for the quarry, and walked back up. Phil managed to get away during the walk.
Simon eventually found a good climb and I joined him. Having been in weak stuff all day, just as we got close to the airspace ceiling the climb turned into a monster and we were struggling to stop gaining height! Happily we stayed below, and set off downwind.
I got super low and had possibly the longest feeling climb over Burnley in my flying career - the vision of Burnley circling didn't leave me for days! Typically once the airspace was no longer an issue, the climbs turned really weak…
Simon and I split up near Pendle. I found a climb that in hindsight I should have stuck with for longer. Alas I landed, but still a decent distance on a tricky day, and a nice flight to get to know the Rook a bit more. Lynda collected us and Phil to end an enjoyable day.
