There I was, happily cruising along at 2000m on a lovely afternoon with a good tailwind. I saw a wind farm in front and the blades were at right angles to me - as expected. Then all hell broke loose - by far the roughest air I had ever been in, multiple collapses. So glad I had good height. When things stabilised again, I was going backwards. But all I wanted to do was to land. Which I soon did, vertically and on speed bar most of the way down. Little option really, as I couldn't fly in my original direction, and if I turned round to go with the wind I may well have hit the turbulence again.

My big mistake was to think the wind turbines were turning in 'my' direction. They weren't. They were turning anti-clockwise. I now know that ANTI is IN YOUR FACE. I'll always remember that now!

So my lovely wing survived the transition from a 20kph westerly wind to something a bit more than that but easterly while I sat and watched. I now have even more confidence in the wing - it flies itself much better than I can.

And a Maximum Climb of 7.8m/s over Olvera is a personal best. It was quite a day.
