Sunday morning and the forecast was for very light NE. Not sure where to go and then a message from Angus appeared on Telegram - "Blorenge. Meet in Waitrose carpark". Fab! I've wanted to fly the sites in Wales for some time.
Glider packed and off. Once at Waitrose we looked at the options; neither of us had been to the Blorenge, or we could join the hoards on Pandy at the BCC. Hmmm, socially more fun to be had with the BCC crowd.
40 minutes later we're standing on take-off at Pandy. Whether flying or just watching a BCC they're always a great social event. Met up with friends from all over the country plus the prospect of good flying weather always equals a guaranteed success in my book.
Just like starlings there were waves of gliders leaping off at every whiff of a thermal. Finally got away up through a rather messy gaggle. Didn't like the look of a rather large cloud developing over the back so went down the valley rather than going over the back of take-off. The route offered up some gorgeous views. All I can say is 'Wow! '
As for my task setting, I was determined to do an out and return. Note to self, 'must have a contingency'
First flight in Wales - absolutely loved it! Thanks Angus, good shout!
