An interesting day out. After playing around on the White Horse without a vario I landed back on Milk and retrieved it from the car. With the wind varying from SSW to SSE we were flying closer to Tan than Milk and the wind was increasing to top end for PG. I managed to catch one thermal and drift back in what was basically a one-thermal flight. With a into-wind groundspeed of about 2 kph I decided not to venture over Swindon and stick with the larger landing fields near Wroughton.
On final glide I saw an ambulance and police cars on the road. Is it wrong to land near a road accident where the police are holding the traffic in queues so as to get an easy hitch back to the hill. A conundrum for all XC pilots to ponder!
